Changing
Eisenerz is often described as a place of change, shaped by its mining history, demographic change, and efforts to renew and adapt.
However, these stories are often told by people who don’t live in Eisenerz. We want to know what stories the people living in Eisenerz tell about their home. How do they experience life here? And what are their hopes for the future?
We believe that the residents of Eisenerz should be the voice that shapes these narratives.
Adapting
Like the other research sites in the Waste/Land/Futures project, Eisenerz is a community associated with significant change over the last decades, particularly in relation to renewal and transformation. We aim to explore how different generations have experienced changes in Eisenerz and how they imagine the future of their town. We are striving to highlight possibilities for regeneration and adaptation and foster new creative stories about Eisenerz from the perspective of locals.
Together with locals and creative practitioners, we want to develop narratives that go beyond ideas of progress or decay. We are conducting intergenerational interviews and field observations and using ethnographic and creative participatory methods in and around Eisenerz.
The goal is to bring together different perspectives and co-create new visions for the future.
